Specimen of lightweight grog was produced in pilot plant by the technique of extrudation from raw materials. Lightweight grog features by low bulk density and low iron content (very light tint). Functionality of the specimen has been verified by application in the preparation of lightweight chamotte and lightweight refractory. In both cases, porosity was higher then 45 %, and thus these materials fulfilled the requirements of the standards referring to insulation materials.

Lehčené ostřivo má obsah Al2O3 35,3 %, SiO2 57,9 %, K2O 2,12 %, P2O5 1,99 % a Fe2O3 0,74 %. Jeho objemová hmotnost je 961 kg/m3, nasákavost 69,6 % a sypná objemová hmotnost zrnitostní frakce 2 – 4 mm 436 kg/m3.
